This comment is regarding Schedule 12 of Bill 60.
The amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act proposed in Bill 60 are some of the most dangerous ideas that have ever come to policy fruition from this government. I do not understand in any way how any minister can stand behind the prospect of taking away tenants rights and increasing homelessness in a province that is already experiencing record rates of precarious housing and inequality.
Landlords are hoarding housing supply, and the way to increasing housing supply is to have landlords sell their multiple units and stop profiting on the backs of Ontarians who have no hope in entering the housing market. There has never been a housing supply crisis. There is a housing affordability crisis and it's embarrassing that the ministers and premier are too obsessed with appeasing landlords to truly acknowledge the state of their province.
This government has not ever been for the people, as they espoused in early campaign rhetoric. They are for the profit, plain and simple.
Reconsider this schedule, and stop creating class division in Ontario.
