I live rurally and drive into the city for work. I'm opposing this proposal.

When I drive from outside the city into downtown, I need the city to manage its traffic efficiently. Bike lanes are part of that solution - they provide alternatives for short urban trips so the roads are less clogged when I arrive.

In rural areas, everyone drives because distances are long and there's no alternative. But in cities, most trips are short and could easily be done by bike if safe infrastructure exists. When cities can't build bike lanes, they force even short trips to be made by car, adding to the traffic I encounter.

I don't need bike lanes where I live, but I absolutely benefit when cities have them. This proposal prevents municipalities from implementing solutions that would reduce the traffic I face when I drive into urban areas.

Let cities manage their own traffic with the tools that work - including bike lanes.
