Separated bike lanes have been proven to be safe as all the data around the world says so. More people on bikes using the bike lane takes up less space than one person in a large vehicle. Stop with all the excuses of why people won't or is not able to ride a bike. There are more than enough examples around the world to show you that if safe bike lanes are available people will use it even in cold of winter, snow, ice, rain and heat. Traffic congestion in cities is not caused by bike lanes as can be seen in other cycling cities around the world. You know that bikes cannot go as fast as cars so when there is no bike lanes for cyclist to use they have to share the road and as the traffic code says drivers must give at least a meter distance and therefore cars will have to slow down with a cyclist in front making it slower for all traffic behind the cyclist as this does not happen when cyclist have their own bike lanes. All the data and you know its true, but that may not be what potential voters want, but they will remember all the misconceptions you have painted how bad bike lanes were when people finally start to realize its not true.
