The Ford PC Government was elected in a massive majority with a mandate that includes addressing municipalities and activists hell-bent on peddling a San Francisco-based idealogy re: bike lanes.

Last April's Charter Rights decision by Judge Paul Schabas regarding the application is very disappointing to the massive majority. The City of Toronto and CycleTO cannot argue for a positive application of S.7 - the injunction can't avoid being made permanent.

Bill 60 and Bill 212 requires ministerial approval for bike lanes in that you cannot replace a lane of traffic with a bike lane. Granular data, 911 services, seniors, businesses and common sense underscores that policy. So does the Ontario Provincial Government.

Yet, Andrew Pulsifer (a former Olivia Chow staffer), Progress Toronto, CycleTO and the NDP continue to defy common sense and continue to peddle this idealogy with Marit Stiles claiming "it divides us." No wonder the NDP will never form government.

The Downtown Concerned Citizens Organization (DCCO) endorses the Ford Government in both bills and will fight non-stop regarding the current mess of bike tracks on The Esplanade, Dan Leckie Way, The Danforth, Bloor Street, Yonge Street, University Avenue and all other major/vital arteries.
