The searchmont ski resorts plan to dump wastewater in the goulais river is both disrespectful and harmful. This is an american company with no ties to the land. It doesn't matter to them because they are not the ones who survive off the water. The runoff will go into the Goulais Bay which sits adjacent to Goulais First nation reserve. I am a member of batchewana and have personally been and experienced life in goulais. Many of the people still fish as their source of income and food. The water is already polluted. You must boil your water to drink if you live there. We have a water purification plant that is not in service. At their info session when asked why they did not consult the first nations, they said "this info session itself is a courtesy". They have disregarded consultation treaties from the start.
