I would like to comment that I very strongly disagree with the proposal to allow hunting in the Boyne Park as I believe hunting is incompatible with the popular hiking trail network in this Park. It is incredibly dangerous to have hunting allowed so close to well used trails.
I have walked the trails in the Park a couple of times a week for 20 years. These trails are very popular, particularly with young families - many of them living in the expanded community of Shelburne, located 10 minutes away.
I note that Murphy's Pinnacle (located a 15 minute walk from the large parking area off Centre Road) was recently voted the most popular Ontario lookout (see enclosed article). The idea that a hunter could shoot at deer from the Pinnacle is horrifying. It would also be very traumatic for young children to not just hear shooting while they are walking in the Park, but potentially witness a kill or a shot deer being dragged out of the Park or, even worse, being field dressed prior to removal.
