RE: Hunting in Boyne Valley Provincial Park
I have noted in the changes to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 that the Boyne Valley Provincial Park will be expanded and that this proposed change will also include the fact that hunting will be allowed in the Boyne Valley Provincial Park. Hunting is not currently permitted in this Park. The proposal is to allow hunting in the proposed additions and to permit hunting within the currently regulated area of the Park.
The Bruce Trail runs through the Boyne Valley Provincial Park. Also, park users go into this Park to use other trails. If hunting is allowed in this Park, peoples’ lives will be endangered. In order to protect people, all entrances to the Park would have to be closed with notifications that hunting is taking place during hunting seasons. Non-hunters are generally not aware of when hunting season is open, so could well enter the Park without realizing that their lives will be in danger.
I also understand that the areas being added to the Boyne Valley Provincial Park currently allow hunting. While it is a great idea to increase the size of the Park, it would be better not to add any areas that allow hunting if it means that hunting will be allowed in the entire Park. I believe it would be better not to risk peoples’ lives in order to expand the Park.
Please do not allow hunting in Boyne Valley Provincial Park
