The old growth Catchacoma…

The old growth Catchacoma forest is unique to Canada. There is extensive research to support the value of this significant old growth eastern hemlock forest, including its capacity for sequestering carbon, as a home to at-risk species and the presence of rare ecosystems on site. This importance of this forest is recognized and has the support of the local indigenous community of Curve Lake Chief and Council. Together we believe that this special forest should be included on the Environmental Registry of Ontario's list of Protected Places.
I have taken my children on several guided hikes through the forest. It is a very special place, offering unique learning opportunities, as well as a peaceful and beautiful connection to nature.
