I do not agree with the current official plan dated August 25, 2025.

I believe that the urban area boundary expansion study from 2021 was a far better suited official plan for the Town of Fort Erie.

It appears that the town removed 2 sections of land, on Michener Road. This land was formerly listed as Priority 1 by the Town of Fort Erie. I believe these sections of land were removed because of political reasons. The tenants located on one of the properties who run an animal charity, were against the urban boundary expansion; however, the owners of the property were not. This land would be an ideal location for a subdivision for families. Access to schools, businesses and highways is also ideal for this location.

Following a presentation made on April 28, 2022, the Region of Niagara stripped this land from the urban area expansion. They claimed a transportation issue and land needs. However, shortly thereafter, they included an almost identical portion of land located at Buffalo Rd. and Nigh Rd., Town of Fort Erie.This particular piece of land is not in a convenient location and is heavily forested.

I also believe that the Town of Fort Erie isn't putting forward the best lands to meet the demands of future housing for growth in the area.

Research has shown that the province will assist municipalities with transportation issues.

In summary, I can not support this current plan until changes are made to ensure that the needs of the municipal, provincial and federal housing demands are met.
