Thank you for the opportunity to review and provide comments on the proposed Regulatory changes for accelerating and improving protections for Ontario’s drinking water sources.

Town staff support an expedited process for routine amendments to Source Protection Plans where the Source Protection Region is the approval authority.

The streamlining of consultation to one phase is also supported so long as municipal authorities and the public continue to be consulted through a process allowing for meaningful participation.

Should the changes being proposed through this posting be approved, Town staff encourage the Province work with the Source Protection Authorities to produce a guiding document for municipal authorities to ensure the effects on all applicable legislation and regulations are understood.
