I am not opposed to development of this type, however, I would need to be assured that the infrastructure required to support a development of this size would be either pre-existing or built into the plan. This would include incorporation of adequate storage/parking for residents, adequate water, sewer systems that can sustain a development of this size, transit links that are sufficient to support a significant increase in population (Oakville transit) and road improvements/expansions that would support the additional traffic coming into the area. I'm also unnerved that the town is opposed to the development but the province is pushing ahead with it. Why? Can there be compromises made to the plan that would assuage concerns of the town? I'm also concerned that the developer is benefiting at the expense of the average citizen that already lives, votes and pays taxes here. This government has given citizens reason to be suspicious of real estate development deals; therefore additional transparency and caution is warranted here.
