Thank you for your attention to our concerns.
Re: Objection to Passing of Bill 68 and ERO Posting 025-1257
Reasons for Objection:

1.Consultation prior to first reading was not adequate to involve stakeholders.
2.The timing of the second and third reading does not allow any consultation.
3.Standardization of systems can be achieved through shared processes and does not require re-structuring which is extremely costly and time consuming with no guarantee of $$ saving. You and I will have to pay for this process.
4.People give to local people they know and trust.
5.Income tax issues for conservation authorities who are registered charities have not been identified.
6.Charitable foundations who provide donations of cash and land may have specific restrictions and segregated funds involved.
7.Cost of transfer of assets that include legal changes of title and market valuations for every dam, building and land parcel.
8.Currently there is extensive local input into budgets and accountability that protects the assets.
9. A one size fits all approach can quickly ignore site specific management.

One of us has a background in environmental and cultural restructuring (all of the public libraries in the Province of Ontario), the other a retired CPA, and partner in one of the largest licensed CPA firms in Canada, familiar with auditing government funded organizations. We are very disappointed, as supporters of the Conservative Party of Ontario.
