I do not agree with the provincial proposal. I believe decisions about how our lands are used and cared for need to remain grounded in local priorities and I fear that a provincial organization will over-ride local concerns.
Why go to the expense of amalgamation instead of setting clear, consistent provincial standards across all conservation authorities, and holding everyone accountable to them? Funds could be used instead to support and improve existing organizations, to modernize operations and to increase consistency across municipalities.
