referencing ERO #025-1257: I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community. I have seen first hand the benefits of a conservation authority that has intimate knowledge of the specific conservation and restoration needs of a local area and gives great attention to and work on those. The Hamilton Conservation Area has great community support and engagement. Our ability to contribute and participate in decision making regarding our area will be greatly diminished if we are part of a larger grouping of areas. The only way such a grouping would be cost effective, is if it cannot manage such a large area and therefore engages less in the important work of conservation. Community financial support/donations will decrease if residents see their funds being distributed outside their area.
