I do not agree with the approach of this government to reduce the number of Conservation Authorities. This will, in my opinion reduce local influence in important decisions currently made by the existing Authorities. I support the Hamilton Conservation Authorities position on this proposal and keeping decisions local and with their warning regarding funding and increased costs with the proposed rearrangement. Should this reorganization occur, I believe it will lead to further degradation of water quality in our region, increased risk of Walkerton-type incidents happening in the province and poor value for the taxpayer.
