While I support government initiatives that aims to assist and build on healthy commerce, there are far more innovative ways to do this. It is disappointing that the governments problem solving solutions only create other problems and only puts this government in a bad light. More businesses are now understanding their own social and environmental responsibility and how that translates into increases in business and revenue. People support businesses 'doing the right thing' and companies are also choosing to do business with other responsible businesses. Ive seen this trend grow as more and more B2B RFP's request bidders to provide their impact on social and environmental change. Government needs to do the same. If we are to remain 'progressive', we must stop regressing on initiatives of social/environmental good. Pick on something else but more importantly raise the bar to be far more creative and ingenious rather than the 'Rob Peter to pay Paul' mentality. Frankly this lacks intelligence and a moral compass. We can do better than this ridiculous bill. It's time government begins to build a new culture that incubates new and fresh approaches to old problems.
