I am against combining the Lake Superior and Lake Huron conservation authorities. These are two vastly different lakes. Weather patterns, lake temperatures, migration patterns, and human footprints are all so different. Both require regional specific knowledge to make the best decisions regarding conservation of the waterways. Moving the head office to Southern Ontario, hurts the Northwestern region. Residing in the area and making pertinent decisions based on firsthand experience, is key to planning and executing effective strategies. Combining the two authorities would create unnecessary problems including taking the funding out of Northwestern Ontario, longer wait times, lack of resources to do necessary tasks, and lack of control over decisions directly impacting our region.
