This move does not make sense for any of the people living in the communities affected. It only benefits big developers and the donors to the conservative party. None of the conservation authorities support this move. Why should decisions about watersheds in Thunder Bay be made by someone at a desk 1000 kilometers away? Who does that benefit? This is another classic move by Doug Ford government to line the pockets of their donors and friends while leaving the average Ontarian out to dry. Just like the greenbelt land claims, Ontario science Center and Ontario place and skills development fund. Doug does not care about average person. If developers can't manage different rules among the various conservation authorities, why do taxpayers have to make life easier for multi million dollar companies? The province wants to take decision making power out of the people who live in these communities and are invested in them, and place power in a centralized spot that will only care about developers profits. I strongly oppose merging conservation authorities as does majority of Ontarians who aren't a corporate developer.
