There is no need for 36 separate conservation authorities, just like there is no need for 78 school boards. Both could easily be divided into three or four parts of Ontario and could be far more effective at a fraction of the administrative overhead. All the money saved could be invested in trail maintenance which our local authority can’t even accomplish. These authorities have become top heavy with little to no accountability to the public they are supposed to support.
All 36 run differently, some offer biking others ban it as if it’s bad for the forest despite using heavy equipment to manage trails. If it’s good for some, why not for all? There are some very well run locations like Albion hills, promote their staff to take over several others.
Consolidate them but make sure the money saved gets reinvested.
