I am very concerned about the proposed changes for the Ontario conservation authorities. After experiencing expensive and disruptive basement flooding during the bad summer storm last year, it is becoming very clear that having local authorities who are familiar with the landscape better protect waterways and conservation is very important for the lives of Ontarians during the age of a rapidly changing climate. It seems very obvious to me that these proposed changes are simply to allow more development and having less oversight as to the implications of that development for the citizens of the province and I do not believe that should be the imperative of the provincial government who is meant to be a steward to Ontario taxpayers.
