Good Day,
I am concerned, very much, with the amalgamation of Conservation areas. My career was working for the Province, and every time Municipalities and or my specific workplace office and territory was amalgamated, quite bluntly, it was a mess. Not one person at work, nor any member of the public was happy. The amalgamations at work, just exasperated problems, with shortages of personnel and huge distances to travel. When Townships and Regions were formed, it just got worse. Logistics were not considered. My area went from 3 Townships app 9. An area of app 2500 square miles . Response time to emergency calls increased. In case you have not guessed I was OPP and am retired.
Also I observed in Chatham Kent, when amalgamation took place, that Chatham City had the majority on council. So they did what ever benefitted them first, like taking all the new equipment from Wallaceburg Fire Dept, and moving the Casino from Dresden, also they collected all the Casino bonuses. And removed equipment from Wallaceburg Hospital. This is what amalgamation brings and I ask you to consider this. And yes I spent many many days working with Conservation Officers, on land and the water.Feel free to publish this message.
