I think that the all parties involved in this proposal should review all the rules in place before any sort of permit is issued. It seems the MOE is ignoring their own rules that they have put in place, and have really dropped the ball on this in my opinion. The data shows that the river is already at its max phosphate levels without any additional garbage being pumped into the river. This data is also most likely underestimated as the samples where taken far above where the majority of the population lives along the Goulais River. If these samples were taken lower along the river the phosphate levels would be much higher. I can't believe that we are even discussing or considering dumping anything purposely into this river in the year 2026, when there is plenty of other options avaialble. I use this resort regularly and the owner and management cannot even keep up on the most basic maintenance issues let alone run a sewage treatment plant. This resort can't even keep their lifts operational or groomers running, (2 of the main necessities of a ski resort). I asked the General manager of the hill why not truck the waste to the Sault Ste. Marie plant and his reponse was we dont want to forget to call to have it pumped and have it overflow. If they cant monitor the level in a holding tank how are they going to manage a treatment plant. I own property with approx 2km of frontage down stream of the proposed discharge site and will be monitoring the river quality. If I notice any change in the quality you can bet your ass I will be coming for the people who appove any of this nonsense.
