Please know that, being on a septic system, I understand that Searchmont Resort could need to upgrade it's septic system. I am not knowledgeable in the workings, of their proposed waste system, other than the part of wastewater going into the Goulais River system. Reality is, CAN THERE EVER BE ENOUGH FILTERING, before entering the river, thus Lake Superior? If the system is so good and the effluent is processed enough, why could it not become a wedding photo oppurtunity pond, and then the pond later used in summer, for watering lawns and, in winter, the snow making process. It would be really good if you could somehow bring the water full circle. Like Kermit said, "it ain't easy being green".
Does Searchmont want to pay for a waste management system that could be shutdown in a heartbeat? In this age, water can be tested SO minutely, that it would be easy to publish the slightest changes in the water quality. All of you in charge of enviromental compliance are aware of this. Please remember that the Goulais River has a huge drainage area relative to its length. It is remote and rugged enough to, not yet, have too big a population on it's banks. Let's keep it as pristine as we can.
