The current requirements for receiving an archaeological license are exclusionary of academics whose field experience and expertise different from CRM; the language of the bulletin does not even account for or include them, presenting archaeology as a static resource rather than the cultural belongings of Indigenous ancestors that represent social worlds who have intellectual and ontologicsl value -- this is distinct from other provinces and sets an intent for who archaeology is for in Ontario.

One suggestion is reevaluating what counts as a similar geological and cultural jurisdiction ; more available archaeological training for new professionals grounded in ethics and non-invasive technologies would streamline and improve assessments in the long run.

Archaeologists familiar with Canada, Canadian heritage, ethical engagements with Indigenous peoples of Canada, are arguably more prepared to undertake archaeological work in Ontario than American archaeologists only familiar with NAGPRA working in Wisconsin, Vermont and Maryland. More Canadian regions should be deemed "similar", especially those that share borders with Ontario like Nunavut; a neighbour of Ontario is by every definition geographically and culturally similar.
