This bill is a huge over reach by the provincial government into municipal affairs, one of many by the Ford gov. When the federal gov does this, Mr. Ford loses his mind, but feels perfectly happy to wrest control that should be municipal.
Anyways, I think the provisions in this bill that limit municipalities from attempting to mitigate or prepare for climate change are insane. We are already seeing the effects of climate change, from more severe storms to increased wildfires and their smoke causing issues across the province.
I am deeply concerned that this government is so focused on meddling in municipal affairs, curtailing freedom of information laws to cover-up whatever Ford has been doing and buying luxury planes, while people in this province are struggling to survive. Our tax dollars are supposed to help us, the people, not Mr. Ford and his buddies. Our schools are literally crumbling, our hospitals are full and people are dying due to wait times and lack of care as we spend the least per capita on healthcare in the entire country, and homelessness skyrockets as families and working people are being forced to choose between astronomical rents, thanks to removing rent control, and sky-high food prices thanks to our grocery monopolies in Canada. But as Mr. Ford says, "God bless the Westons". So I guess we know who he really cares about... and it isn't the people.
