I oppose the proposed changes under ERO 026-0300. While Ontario needs more housing and infrastructure, these changes prioritize speed over good planning, environmental protection, and local democracy.

Municipalities understand the needs and limitations of their communities far better than the Province. Local governments should retain the authority to shape planning decisions, zoning, green standards, tree protection, and infrastructure requirements based on local conditions.

Weakening environmental oversight and reducing municipal control creates long-term problems including loss of mature trees and green space, increased flooding and heat impacts, strained infrastructure, and poorly planned development that does not support complete and livable communities.

Ontario needs housing solutions that are sustainable, climate-resilient, and aligned with long-term planning goals, not broad provincial overrides that limit public input and local decision-making. The Province should work collaboratively with municipalities instead of centralizing planning authority and weakening existing protections.
