Water and wastewater control and management must remain wholly within the public domain and not outsourced to private or public-private entities. This component needs to be withdrawn entirely from this bill. I do not want another Walkerton event within Ontario, nor the ongoing drinking water disaster currently taking place in Flint, Michigan. The limited public benefits are outweighed by the risk of privatization of the financial proceeds while leaving the public responsible for liabilities, including debt and future maintenance and upgrades to water and waste water delivery and management. The public has no recourse or alternatives to the monopolistic nature of these shared resources and thus they must remain wholly within the public domain. Agents acting on behalf of the public are also not defined by this proposed bill and open to later definition to the detriment of the citizens of Ontario.
