I support the Province’s proposed standardized minimum lot size framework for urban residential development.
Establishing a consistent province-wide standard would help reduce unnecessary municipal barriers to housing creation, improve predictability within the planning process, and support gentle intensification within existing settlement areas.
I would encourage the Province to consider a standardized minimum lot size of approximately 1,850 square feet (roughly 172 m²). A lot size in this range would appropriately accommodate common housing forms such as townhouses and semi-detached dwellings while still supporting functional site design, parking, landscaping, and livability considerations.
This approach would help increase attainable housing opportunities and improve development flexibility in serviced urban areas without compromising neighbourhood functionality.
