Please consider not moving…

Please consider not moving forward with the open for business planning tool section of Bill 66. Nothing is uglier than a subdivision. They are unsustainable because everyone who lives in one needs to own a car; they are a monoculture of housing; they employ unsustainable building practices; they increase the property taxes of the people around them because we have to fund their water, electricity, roads, etc. I chose to live in Hamilton because it is a city with real houses, real neighbourhoods and character. It has a mix of businesses and homes and is a walkable city. We need to focus on creating sustainable living cities rather than creating homes on valuable and precious land. If we keep building on land, we will see increased floods, insurance premiums will go up and climate change will continue to have detrimental effects on our mental and physical health. Please don’t be so shortsighted.
