   I would like to give my support for the "Study Area for Potential Future Greenbelt Expansion".  As a resident of Simcoe County I applaud this effort to increase protection of our invaluable natural resources.  Features such as the Nottawasaga River watershed, the Oro Moraine, and other recharge areas are extremely important to sustaining a viable ecosystem in this area, and to preserve what studies have shown to be among the best groundwater sources on the planet (in terms of both quality and quantity).  In coming years the development pressures in this area will be intense, and without protection these precious resources will likely get plundered for short term financial gain.

  In addition to preserving water resources, having green space to enjoy amid an increasing urbanizing Province will be very beneficial and restorative for people of all ages, especially among our youth that do not spend enough time outdoors as it is.  I spend a lot of time hiking and exploring the current Greenbelt, as well as in the forest, field and farmland of the study area.  I feel strongly that the creation of the Greenbelt was the single greatest accomplishment of any government in my lifetime.  It is a beacon of hope to the world, that collectively we can think beyond shortsighted pressures of today and look to the future.  Which will ensure that we are leaving a legacy for future generations that strikes the right balance between economic development and environmental protection.

  I want to continue to be able to take my children to green space that I don't have to drive hours to experience, buy food from local farms; be able to drink the locally sourced water with confidence;  breath clean air; observe plentiful and diverse wildlife; and know that their children will be able to the same.

  I will champion future Greenbelt expansion among my friends and family.
