I am writing to express grave concerns regarding "Bill 66". This OMNIBUS style bill is a mechanism to circumvent many laws and regulations regarding zoning if the municipality passes a so-called “Open for Business” bylaw. It also eliminates the requirements for notification and the ability to APPEAL a municipal decision. The bill effectively allows a municipality to ignore some laws and regulations that have been put in place by governments of all stripes over the last 40-50 years.
I am attaching a submission by an organization- NDACT- that succinctly puts forth the problems with this proposed legislation and with which I concur.
