Asset management is a worthwhile tool but the implementation of a prescribed policy is not acceptable. A requirement for mandatory, ongoing engineering oversight is cost prohibitive and unwelcome in all small communities and even banding together for a shared service is impractical. Unless of course government intends to fund 100% of all costs related to all aspects of asset management and reporting on same. Our small community is unable meet this challenge and using current OCIF monies would deleterious your impact our efforts to rebuild and repair our degraded infrastructure. We need less regulation not more. We need more funding not less and we need time to accommodate and accomplish our tasks. Constant regulatory changes and increased put unnecessary burdens on all communities but especially our small northern ones.
