The government seems to spend all kind of time and energy redirecting traffic to its numerous detour routes from the 400 series highways. It's interesting to me that money is spent on this because you want to keep commercial traffic moving. It's all about the economy. When it comes time to protect people the government is nowhere to be seen. We need a firm and active plan in case of a Fukushima type accident in Ontario. When are you going to move on this, passing out pills is clearly not enough.
You al now there are international best practice standards for this type of emergency yet we have not plan to meet or exceed those standards.
What happens if our drinking water is contaminated. The government has no plan, not a clue what the response would be, at least none they are telling us about.
I agree with Greenpeace on this: Ontario should match the best practice set by Switzerland and put in place emergency plans to protect the public in the event of an a level 7 accident on the International Nuclear Event Scale (INES).
I hope my comments are taken as seriously as they are meant.
