This is a logical and sensible change. Most bear bait sites are not near well used human trails. Bears prefer that and bear hunters set up their hunting locations accordingly. The distance of 200 meters is far when you are walking in the bush with a pail of bait. For outfitters, that distance could easily be far enough to through an unfamiliar hunting guest off and cause them to get lost or misdirected. 200 meters in the bush is a far distance to transport bait if having to walk in. Due to the fact that bear baits are set up in areas where bears feel safe to come in there would be no additional unwanted human contact. This would assist outfitters in properly managing black bears in their BMA. This gives hunters certainty for previously established bait sites. This is a positive proposal that I fully support.
