Hi,
I never voted for the PC at the last provincial election, or whatever party Doug Ford represents, so I'm uncertain how to approach any bill his government is trying to introduce into law. However, I'm aware of the housing problems occurring in Canada now: different problems in different provinces and/or cities. I'm interested in archaeology, am a member of a provincial archaeological association, and am aware that existing heritage in the shape of old buildings can be an obstruction to new laws trying to be put in place by the present provincial government to address what is called a "housing crisis". However, I like the past and old buildings.
I'm torn, because the topic of appropriate housing occurs in my personal experiences in the recent past, and it's important to me, centred on the question of affordability. However, I am usually unhappy when older buildings are demolished to make way for newer buildings as part of a solution to the housing crisis. I don't know who to trust, to support the present provincial government's plans, even though I never voted for them in the last provincial election, or to reject their plans.
Is it posible to demolish some old buildings that I don't think should be standing, because of personal experience in one recently, buildings infested with rodents, dirty, run-down, unmaintained, and in which the landlord is neglecting the problems? I guess not, if the landlord opposes his property being demolished. :( :( :(
Thank you
