A very important part of the election promises of both the Federal and Provincial government was to take care of the environment. This is what I thought they were carrying out as they encouraged the use of solar and wind energy and many people were on board with these policies. Individual citizens try to do their part to use green energy, recycle, refrain from using pesticides, etc. And then in the midst of our beautiful 'green and pleasant land' comes the prospect of a Cement Plant construction. Is it not possible for Governments and review boards to learn from mistakes that have been made in the past? A "state of the art" cement plant was constructed in Port Daniel, Quebec and this is reported to be the worst polluter in the history of the Province. At the present time the Port Daniel facility is reported to be operating at only 60% capacity. The construction of a Cement Plant in this agricultural and tourism region of the province can only have disastrous consequences for our economy, the health of the population, and the future of families who reside in the area. Please consider the facts very carefully before allowing this Cement Plant construction project to go ahead and change the landscape of this small village on the shores of the Ottawa River - a recently designated heritage site. PLEASE SAY NO TO ZONING CHANGES AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF HEAVY POLLUTING INDUSTRY IN THE FORM OF A COLACEM CEMENT PLANT!!!
