I am concerned about the proposed changes to the Conservation Authorities Act. The Conservation Authority model is one that has stood the test of time for 70 years. In addition to the proposed "mandatory services" to be outlined by this bill, I believe a fifth mandatory service should be added -- the conservation of natural resources -- as no one is better equipped than the local, on-the-ground conservation authority to provide this service. Conservation Authorities, by virtue of providing an integrated, whole watershed-approach, provide great value for the money to residents of Ontario.
