The provincial policy statement has not been updated and each Conservation Authority may have different needs based on population and flood risk. As some policies are being changed the definition of wetlands is critical. The Provincial policy statement does not protect small wetlands which are important in reducing phosphorus loading and provincial policy does not protect bogs. Reduce regulatory restrictions between 30m and 120m is not advisable because there is a risk of losing biodiversity and increased flood risk. multiple low-risk projects could have a cumulative effect.
