Boundary considerations: This an unreasonable request for stakeholders' to respond to when boundary options are not provided.
However, I will speak to maintaining the northern section of the public beachfront from Eastdale to Archer Drive. This portion has been historically accessed by a large portion of the Allenwood community through the footpaths and should not be privatized by the desire of a handful of beachfront owners. Maintaining public access allows people to walk to the beach. Attendees are respectful, are entitled to the recreational access ( a park mandate) and should not have to drive to further beaches thus causing environmental impact. Access to the waterfront/beachfront should be a communal right.
Beach access paths: should be retained with educational materials/signs available educating visitors about the fragile ecosystem. If these paths were removed, people could travel indiscriminately through the dunes causing extensive damage. Cottage/homeowners should be monitored for constructing fences, structures and wooden pathways on and through dunes and for cutting down trees/plants that obstruct their view which are not located on their property but on the dunes in front of their property. Properties adjacent to the beach should not be using garden fertilizers.
Heritage class wetlands, integral to the health of the beach ecosystem, should be make park property and not be available for large scale housing development.
I support naming beaches to represent the historical cultural features.
Thanks for the opportunity to comment. Climate change is a huge concern and to preserve our Wasaga Beach, public education is required.
