Hello,
Wolf Lake and the surrounding old growth Red Pine forest must be protected. This is the largest old growth red pine forest in North America. The trees can tell us a lot about environmental conditions. The trees have evolved to withstand ground fires. This area should be a national park and not open to mineral exploration. We need to think long term in regards to the earth and climate. If we look for minerals and exploit the area the area will be used up in 25-50 years. There will be no chance at regrowth for the forest.
This forest survived through the acid rains, which came from other mining development. It's lake went from having a high acidity and no life, and now supports many speices of fish.
Trees are important for aborbing C02 as we all know. This forest has previously been listed as an area to be protected. The trees are 150 - 250 years old, and scientists can get a lot of data about the environment from these trees.
