I am submitting comment regarding EBR Registry Number: 013-1661.
The SSSN is a not for profit grass roots group under the umbrella of Nottawasaga Futures that engages the public in hands on restoration activities along stream corridors in South Simcoe. Our purpose is to invest in streams together for community and watershed health. We do so in part by community partnering and annually involving over 500 volunteers of all ages in stream rehabilitation projects.
Our commentary involves the study areas pertaining to:
1.Nottawasaga River corridor in Dufferin and Simcoe Counties
2.Important surface water and recharge features in southeast Simcoe County; and
3.Catchment areas and wetlands west of Minesing in Dufferin and Simcoe Counties.
The South Simcoe Streams Network supports expanding the Greenbelt on its outer edge to incorporate additional land along headwaters, waterway corridors and recharge areas in the Nottawasaga River and Lake Simcoe watersheds. The much needed additional policy direction provided through the Greenbelt Act would help protect these environmentally sensitive areas for future generations.
