2476716  of land located immediately to the south of Alliston, within the Town of New Tecumseth. We purchased the property in Nov. 2015 because of its location south of Alliston and its proximity to the Mattamy / Ontario Potato property.  Mattamy / Ontario Potato have been advocating for the planning approvals since 2003 and we believe that our lands are effectively part of that future expansion area.  We support their initiatives and believe that Simcoe County will be better served by an expansion in south Alliston

.

We agree that water supply protection is important for all communities, however, Ontario and the Conservation Authority already have in place regulations and guideline to ensure that water is protected.  This additional level of regulation is in my opinion unnecessary to achieve the goal of water protection.  In my experience, the Conservation Authority and the various Ministries of Ontario already have the tools in place to adequately protect water supplies while at the same time permitting the urban growth and developments necessary to achieve the provincial population targets.  Additional red tape is not needed to achieve those Provincial goals.

From a development perspective a more intense density form of development should be encouraged here to minimize the taking up of farm land areas. With more intense density forms housing can be more affordable to Ontario's families. This does not necessarily mean high rise buildings or stacked townhouse development.  Ontario families need outdoor living space for families to grow and thrive; without growth within the family we become sterile and single minded, as opposed to being focused on communities and neighbours. Having the ability to comprehensively plan for a new expansion of the existing community in Alliston allows builders and developers flexibility in housing type to achieve the level of affordability with outdoor green spaces needed and cherished by Ontario families. Our lands have the potential to become part of an important new affordable housing area for Ontario, with the important component of outdoor greenspaces for working families located close to an area with existing major employers.

Placing a new regulatory restriction will only sever to increase the level of red tape that brings affordable housing with outdoor greenspaces to the market place.
