Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the Proposed Changes to the Crown Forest Sustainability Act (CFSA), Environmental Registry of Ontario number 019-1020.

I am a worker in the forest products industry. Our current regulation under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) expires this year, and a permanent solution is needed. The CFSA should be used as an equivalent process to the ESA for implementing species protections. The forestry sector is a resource that is extremely important to the economy in northern Ontario, providing jobs and careers for many people, including myself. A permanent solution through the CFSA will ensure that protections for endangered species are balanced with other important socio-economic outcomes. The best way to sustainably manage for all forest management objectives is by making the CFSA an equivalent process to the ESA.
