Ontario, as an example to the rest of Canada, and Canada as an example to the rest of the world, must shift its reliance on fossil fuels.  We must.  We cannot continue on the path we are on.  Big oil profits cannot continue to be steering our energy decisions.

I keep hearing the argument that we need to provide people with more and more energy as our demands increase.   Big oil industries  claim that they are simply responding the the energy demands of Ontarians; that they are creating jobs; they they are providing this service to keep our standard of living.  But this is not true; this is a twisting of the way we should be looking at things. Just because something exists, just because we are all TRAPPED in this way of living, does not mean we simply accept it.  The fossil fuel industry wants us to believe there is no way out other than increasing our reliance on oil and dirty fuels.  Why?  Because they make a lot of money, that's why.  They are thinking about profits.  And governments that acquiesce to that way of thinking simply tell us that they are profiting too, that they are not thinking about the future beyond the next election, that they are answering not to us, the people, but to corporate interests.

I am so sick of this.

I am sick of this shortsightedness.
