In my humble opinion there are already water by laws in effect in this region to protect our groundwater and this pit jeopardizes that even further this region has a commitment to protecting groundwater yet allowing 20000 tons of aggregate to be removed from the table per year is not only irresponsible but detrimental to the region of Waterloo and surrounding areas
Please reconsider allowing this to happen.
The province isn't allowing any new landfills and most will close with in the next 10 years if you think this pit is not the equivalent of allowing a piece of property turned into land fill then maybe you should have some more research done as a gravel pit could potentially harm the water table just as a landfill could contaminate the water table
