Wetland Concerns
-Locally significant (as described by the GRCA) "Schindelsteddle South Weland Complex".
-Section 6.2.1 of the Hydro-geological report states there will be a 30% post-development increase in infiltration and surface water runoff toward the wetland, which (again described by the GRCA) would be "significant".
-Section 7.2 of the Hydro-geological report states "no significant long-term changes to the water balance" are anticipated across the site.
-However, there is (no similar discussion) of impacts on wetland water balance.
-There is no similar discussion, or data, of impacts to wetland water balance throughout the life of the application.
-The Environmental Impact Study (EIS) states that there will be a 4.4% increase in the surface water input to the wetland and a 3.9% increase of infiltration to the wetland. It is (unclear) how these values were calculated.
-There is uncertainty related to the accuracy of the applicants reports, as stated by the GRCA, one of, if not the most respected conservation authorities in Ontario.
-The GRCA has also recommends that seasonal water level triggers be identified for the wetland, and a contingency plan be developed, as this, too, seems to be missing from the application.
