Completely disagree with reducing required environmental assessments for this highway.

Process assumes highway for motorized vehicles is necessary and has benefits for its expected life, which would be the next 50-100 years.

Avoiding human extinction in the lifetime of our children requires that CO2 emissions globally approach zero between 2035 and 2050, a maximum of 30 years. With that condition, under the Paris Agreement, there is zero justification for a highway that is unlikely to complete construction until 2035. There is no conceivable financial payback, nor is there any conceivable way for Ontario to recover from the detrimental impacts to the environment caused by its construction. Nor should we forget to consider the continuation of urban sprawl which is a known impact from highway construction, in addition to induced demand. No money should be spent on new highways in the Province of Ontario from this point forward. These funds need to be fully invested in facilitating the use of active transportation and transit and decarbonization of our transportation system.
