Hello,

I am a resident ofHighland Creek, where this proposed plant would be built.

I highly oppose this project. This plant will serve not the community, but the private sector.

It will have huge negative impacts on the community. It will increase air pollution, noise pollution, traffic, probably STENCH too. More negative impacts as well I am sure. It will lower the quality of life and pose a risk to our health.

It is absolutely illogical to have this plant situate itself in a residential area. The trucks bringing waste to be processed will have to go through residential areas with homes, schools, parks, commercial spaces. This will bring a huge disruption to our community. It will be situated in the heart of the community, unlike for example the garbage dumps for the city, which have direct access to the highways.

The traffic study presented is misleading. It says it will reduce traffic. That is if the plant decides to graciously operate trucks on 'only' 5/7 days a week. In addition, how can traffic volume NOT increase? It doesn't matter if it will not cause operational issues, or 'significant' delay/congestion. The fact is that if you add dozens of trucks to our streets, you are impacting traffic. The study sweeps this under the rug.

This would be fine if the project were serving our community. It is NOT. It is a private project. It will process a huge amount of waste, and Highland Creek is going to feel the brunt of it all.

I am also concerned that there is no health assessment being presented. How can traffic be the only impact this project will have on residents in the area? The plant will emit significant greenhouse gases, as well as other gases that are toxic, some in significant amounts, and the others EXCEEDING allowable ministry guidelines. This is atrocious.

Finally, I am terribly disappointed in the lack of communication about this project to residents. I found out about it through a change.org petition being spread on social media. I live in the area. I would be affected by it (even if I wasn't, this is a garbage plan that will harm the community which I do not stand for). It was an underhanded move to only notify those living within 700m of the proposed sight, as if they would be the only ones affected by this plant.

I urge the ministry to REJECT this application.

It should be relocated to a more suitable location that will NOT harm local residents, such as a location that has immediate highway access, or a rural location closer to source/destination material.

I also ask that the comment period be extended further, to allow more residents to speak on the issue. And during this time, make sure to reach out to all residents in Highland Creek so we may be properly informed about the issue.

A public meeting, or another campaign should be held to fully explain the details of this significant proposal to the local communities that will be impacted. This meeting should detail the results found from official assessments of traffic and health impacts conducted by the city of Toronto, in replacement of the study provided that vaguely states there would be no 'significant' traffic impacts.

Thank you.
