The use of our wildlife and natural resources is a privilege that we should never take lightly. We should strive to make sure whatever we take, even temporarily from the natural world is ethical and sustainable. As someone familiar with falconry uses of wild trapped raptors and the studies that have been done on wild raptor populations, I see no logical reason to limit wild raptors from use in the falconry setting. The majority of young birds of prey will never see a second year so even with the incredibly low numbers of birds taken by falconers, you still have effectively zero population impact. Far more raptors are killed or permanently removed from the wild by injuries with power lines, vehicles, windows, and house cats. Please consider the research and look at the population level impacts such a small take of wild birds will have, and not get drawn into emotional responses against all use of our natural resources.
