I would like to thank the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for the opportunity to comment on your proposal to expand and update access to wild raptors by licensed falconer, and to offer our enthusiastic support for your proposal.

Since our founding, we have applied sound science to conservation of the Peregrine Falcon and other species in North America, and many other endangered raptor species worldwide.

Universally, we have found that when people can engage closely with birds of prey, such as falconers do on a daily basis, the support for their conservation, and for environmental protection in general, increases dramatically.

It is our experience that when falconry is allowed to occur in a thoughtfully regulated manner that is based upon a scientifically demonstrated sustainable harvest, populations of raptors in the wild benefit. We therefore offer our strong support to your proposal.
